I'm trying to hang on to the summer feeling for a little longer.<br />
<br />
In order to keep that feel good feeling I've been making an effort with what I'm eating. Eating the right foods can really help keep the glow going. Since making the full time change to veggie I've been eating lots of fresh veg and have noticed a great change in my skin. To snack on I'm trying to eat less processed foods and more healthy snacks. <a href="https://aloha.com/home" target="_blank">Aloha</a> do a great range of <a href="https://aloha.com/shop/product/protein-bar-peanut-butter-chocolate-chip" target="_blank">snacks</a> that look super tasty!<br />

On the non foodie side of things, Lush's <a href="https://www.lush.co.uk/products/ultrabland" target="_blank">Ultrabland</a> and <a href="https://www.lush.co.uk/products/cleansers/herbalism" target="_blank">Herbalism</a> plus Neal's Yard <a href="http://www.nealsyardremedies.com/skincare/2362.html#start=3" target="_blank">Wild Rose Balm</a> are major staples in my routine. Between them my skin is cleansed, exfoliated and moisturised. I'm not yet reaching for all my matte foundations, piling on the highlighters for that glowy look. I'm always looking for some recommendations, so if you have any send them my way!<br />

<br />
Back to food. My new favourite thing to make is a Thai curry. I've slightly adapted <a href="http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/420641/veggie-thai-red-curry" target="_blank">this recipe</a> for my own purposes. It's vegan too, which is great!<br />
<br />
<u>Ingredients </u><br />
<u>Paste</u><br />
2 Shallots<br />
As many garlic cloves as you want<br />
Small bit of ginger<br />
Red chilli - decrease or increase depending on how much heat you can take<br />
Stick of lemongrass<br />
Half a red pepper<br />
Coriander<br />
Lemon or Lime Juice<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Curry</u><br />
Tin of coconut milk<br />
Soy sauce or stock cube<br />
Your choice of fresh/frozen vegetables<br />
Noodles or rice<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL0RjShWcgdnmF9xAFy9bQt9a1D8M_qzlyIRtGMpY66O9RDvR6P6NAWxqa7pLe24GfWsc9V4ejeYV3gJxNRrvEQc78D8j55W8Izf5LmY-kqRF1rp5Fi26OH_fHgAwFr5R0TswugsAuXZw/s1600/IMG_3883Curry.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL0RjShWcgdnmF9xAFy9bQt9a1D8M_qzlyIRtGMpY66O9RDvR6P6NAWxqa7pLe24GfWsc9V4ejeYV3gJxNRrvEQc78D8j55W8Izf5LmY-kqRF1rp5Fi26OH_fHgAwFr5R0TswugsAuXZw/s400/IMG_3883Curry.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<u>Method</u><br />
Blitz all the paste ingredients together in a food processor.<br />
Fry the paste in a little oil to cook the onions and garlic.<br />
Crumble in the stock cube if using.<br />
Add coconut milk slowly and stir.<br />
Add the chopped vegetables and let it boil and bubble.<br />
Cook the noodles/rice as per the packet instructions.<br />
Serve and eat!<br />
<br />
This is really quick and easy to make. You can make the paste on a Sunday evening, put it in the fridge and use it during the week.<br />
<br />

The Summer House, is exactly that, a cute little summer house in a gorgeous garden in Bourne End. This is a little location specific compared to some of my posts, but you'll just have to make the trip.<br />
<br />
I'd heard of microdermabrasion from late night QVC watching with my Dad, but I'd never experienced it myself. I wasn't sure what it would be like to have it done. It looked like it might hurt. I can confirm, that is doesn't.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAq7WM17zfE07ja2SXQGPCrR3xtlZmGN5htIpQzcib5t4g3BAVOtjVtVcE0D0T6CwTq5_kZSjIlSV5SXIobA7vdl_Njc94CnO6hN7ufRUZS1gu_flIuc4aki7xXByMe5sO0oNmjj1_Igk/s1600/IMG_3710.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAq7WM17zfE07ja2SXQGPCrR3xtlZmGN5htIpQzcib5t4g3BAVOtjVtVcE0D0T6CwTq5_kZSjIlSV5SXIobA7vdl_Njc94CnO6hN7ufRUZS1gu_flIuc4aki7xXByMe5sO0oNmjj1_Igk/s400/IMG_3710.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Once you've been welcomed to The Summer House and got comfy on the heated massage bed (such a perk), Amy cleanses your make up off, and then uses a toner before turning on the microdermabrasion machine. First thing you notice is it's loud. But do not fear. Amy describes it as such on her website "A non invasive but intense exfoliating treatment using thousands of tiny crystals to blast away dead skin cells and encourage them to renew". That's probably the best way of describing it. It doesn't hurt at all, it's a tiny bit scratchy in certain areas, but not painful, just like someone is itching your face. It vacuums up the dead cells too, that's the weirdest sensation. Someone hoovering your nose is very satisfying it turns out. Once Amy had done my whole face, which probably took around 5 minutes, but I can't say I was watching the clock, she wiped my face with cotton pads to remove the leftover bits of skin. Then your face is covered in oil for a facial massage and a moisturiser with a strong SPF. All the products are Eve Taylor products, which smell amazing and are cruelty free.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwqaHAbr-9soSrq4Ud2OV2VSzsnD10Y0TtU_IrK7qkz_C_ZnQ16sUf91i5kwxIppvEdDY6MSVEkb_GYl0QXkRp-UZEY9DNCfd9Iq72aTYRd3XmDsog0muJLmg73ilSnSf4RR_g5TU_Qpw/s1600/IMG_3712.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwqaHAbr-9soSrq4Ud2OV2VSzsnD10Y0TtU_IrK7qkz_C_ZnQ16sUf91i5kwxIppvEdDY6MSVEkb_GYl0QXkRp-UZEY9DNCfd9Iq72aTYRd3XmDsog0muJLmg73ilSnSf4RR_g5TU_Qpw/s400/IMG_3712.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
After care is pretty simple too. You have to wear minimum SPF for the next few days, not wear heavy make up for 12 hours, don't exfoliate for 72 hours. Pretty basic things it's easy to keep to. And Amy can give you some SPF samples if you don't have any. Your face can go really red, but mine didn't. Immediately afterwards it looked smoother, the next day my forehead looked clearer and the wrinkles I have had definitely smoothed. A week later and my forehead is still smoother than it was and my cheeks are really soft. It's quite common to get microdermabrasion facials in groups of six, with one every 7-10 days. After that I think the differences would be amazing.<br />
<br />
As well has having an amazing facial, I also had a really great time. We've probably all had massages where the masseuse has been a bit grumpy or not overly friendly but Amy was so nice. After the facial was finished we chatted for ages. I babbled on about my life story and enjoyed speaking to someone I wasn't related to/Karl for the first time in ages.<br />
<br />
If you're in the Maidenhead/Bourne End area I would definitely recommend The Summer House. Microdermabrasion facials start from £35. You can find more information on The Summer House's <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Summer-House/1420219124929578" target="_blank">Facebook</a> or <a href="http://holistictreatments.wix.com/the-summer-house#!treatments/c23d3" target="_blank">Website</a>.<br />
<br />
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">*The facial was kindly provided to me free of charge by Amy. This does not in any affect my review. </span></i><br />

<br />
Since I last wrote, I've been away, twice, I got a job and a crashed my car (I'm ok, it's ok £300 excess later). But I'm back now, hopefully a little more regularly!<br />
<br />
I've been here<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNZJ7mVt7i-1ah681Rnhwemc1HV3mpzosuOpTQmLwlLANj6wM1n8PXfqJL-NRILIaW8NzkFQ8IVehjprKizkwjmVhvSS5wB4Ctb72gY1A1g5WLkieme4XV91XxzwlDwb7Rt5EPBoIS-uU/s1600/IMG_3510.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNZJ7mVt7i-1ah681Rnhwemc1HV3mpzosuOpTQmLwlLANj6wM1n8PXfqJL-NRILIaW8NzkFQ8IVehjprKizkwjmVhvSS5wB4Ctb72gY1A1g5WLkieme4XV91XxzwlDwb7Rt5EPBoIS-uU/s400/IMG_3510.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
And I saw these<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhikvMfGrVI7UqQf6KC_pPuroMQnF7h5JuEP3q0NJGjeKPagAIkAIEwuDBIyOfF70wyLTiJsUok1bwnu5jH6g-AmUVF7ZmVYUZc7IKv9cTeAwdE25z2sil3UC0r-cEbYo0bPlqglyiWT28/s1600/Sheep.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhikvMfGrVI7UqQf6KC_pPuroMQnF7h5JuEP3q0NJGjeKPagAIkAIEwuDBIyOfF70wyLTiJsUok1bwnu5jH6g-AmUVF7ZmVYUZc7IKv9cTeAwdE25z2sil3UC0r-cEbYo0bPlqglyiWT28/s400/Sheep.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And I had the best time. I'll write a big post about Shetland and the Folk Festival soon with some more photos. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I work in social media and I spend a lot of time on my computer and Twitter, so it's hard to want to do that in my spare time as well. But now I've settled into it a bit more hopefully I'll get more done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So thanks for sticking around. There's some beauty related posts to come too, so let's get back into the swing of things. </div>

I was excited to discover that there was a KIKO store there. I did some Googling and I believe that KIKO is cruelty free. I hope I'm not wrong about that!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiInaP85YNlk54t7OFRMenT6jkbEGnhI6ZVDgfSlAemftole1Am7fm56EXrBjhWIX_T-CfCZrriib3MjZjk_zYksPX7ctoF74-3iLhMu11tV5hB0El9IVieYTWBTNoaFQy-JmMebK3JyS4/s1600/IMG_3485.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiInaP85YNlk54t7OFRMenT6jkbEGnhI6ZVDgfSlAemftole1Am7fm56EXrBjhWIX_T-CfCZrriib3MjZjk_zYksPX7ctoF74-3iLhMu11tV5hB0El9IVieYTWBTNoaFQy-JmMebK3JyS4/s1600/IMG_3485.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
I picked up mainly base products because I've run out of every concealer I own. After the Pixiwoo <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYfNjv-KjQ8" target="_blank">video</a> on colour correcting I picked up the the <a href="http://www.kikocosmetics.co.uk/make-up/face/concealers/Colour-Correction-Concealer-Wheel/p-KM0010200600100" target="_blank">Colour Correction Concealer Wheel</a>. I tried it out this morning and it's good. No green or purple shadowing under my foundation and I felt like it helped the coverage my foundation gave me.<br />
<br />
Another coverage booster is the F<a href="http://www.kikocosmetics.co.uk/make-up/face/concealers/Full-Coverage-Concealer/p-KM00102003" target="_blank">ull Coverage Concealer</a>. This is creamy and easy to apply. It doesn't cling to dry patches. I used it on blemishes and under my eyes and it worked for both. I swatched the new Under Eye Correctors and found they were very orange, even the lightest shade. I understand they're supposed to be a bit yellow to combat dark circles but these were too yellow.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcNjMyn8ky1aHfQyPeHDmwYtk6WMrECH-MP8LGPZfvh0B0Nss1lmn7wj6EAi1o5NQBr0kAhcFL_xSZO0vfu48ouojOeQj8FrmEjFs6lmFCfwJu20sRWITjeB_8QPms9pa7dLdmXkEPMaw/s1600/IMG_3487.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcNjMyn8ky1aHfQyPeHDmwYtk6WMrECH-MP8LGPZfvh0B0Nss1lmn7wj6EAi1o5NQBr0kAhcFL_xSZO0vfu48ouojOeQj8FrmEjFs6lmFCfwJu20sRWITjeB_8QPms9pa7dLdmXkEPMaw/s1600/IMG_3487.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I gave my brows some love with the <a href="http://www.kikocosmetics.co.uk/make-up/eyes/eyebrows/Precision-Eyebrow-Pencil/p-KM00308001" target="_blank">Precision Eyebrow Pencil</a>. This is a proper pencil as opposed to a wind up 'pen' type thing. Luckily it comes with a sharpener. This is easy to use and gave my brows great shape and definition.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.kikocosmetics.co.uk/make-up/eyes/eyeshadows/Long-Lasting-Stick-Eyeshadow/p-KM00306002" target="_blank">Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadows</a> have been much hyped everywhere. I drew this on the back of my hand and even a shower didn't remove it all. I got shade 6 which is a light taupe (they describe it as Golden Brown) shade with a small amount of shimmer. I can see myself getting every shade.<br />
<br />

You can pick up fairly inexpensive clothes when the season changes. Coupled with the fact that I want to change most of my current wardrobe. Here's some things I'm lusting after right now.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I don't have that many shirts and I love the idea of a denim shirt just to throw on. You could wear this buttoned up tucked into a skirt or unbuttoned over a tank top and leggings.<br />

I wanted to be able to guarantee that nothing would be tested on animals.<br />
<br />
I came across <a href="http://www.thevegankind.com/" target="_blank">The Vegan Kind</a> on a Google search, but didn't take the plunge until there was a code on instagram. I ordered my box on the 1st April at about 10:30am (cut off for subscriptions is 12 noon) and it arrived on Saturday (11th). Not bad at all! I missed it because I was out but picked it up this morning. Here's what was inside:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRGML0tmvMHHPC7vm4UGJyngNB5LdfpE56S_jB-hO8tDfd5Fot5TpoTO_81WxIXlkujeRXHyAKx1ANqTFs7GJcZsnnBS2oPGhnRD5G-PRGrs4eJbn-9tbzTPAST_AGB3YxdUxivSvMbUo/s1600/IMG_3472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRGML0tmvMHHPC7vm4UGJyngNB5LdfpE56S_jB-hO8tDfd5Fot5TpoTO_81WxIXlkujeRXHyAKx1ANqTFs7GJcZsnnBS2oPGhnRD5G-PRGrs4eJbn-9tbzTPAST_AGB3YxdUxivSvMbUo/s1600/IMG_3472.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I ripped my address labels off, hence the damage</td></tr>

<br /><br />
This box isn't strictly beauty, but they do do a quarterly beauty box that I think I might also invest in, but one of the items was a Coconut Hand Wash. We're just about to run out of soap in our bathroom so this comes at a great time.<br />
<br />
Also in the box were Ombar Coco Mylk Buttons, which look like they'll be really tasty and healthy! Same with the eat chic Peanut Butter Cup, I can't wait to try this. I like peanut butter, I like chocolate. I'm going to like this. Another thing I like is crisps and chips, Soffle's Chilli & Garlic Pita Chips will be very good, as long as they're not hot.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR5SJwgGVNfeGYG5sFaVkSCBWap3Q_6V3hnX6LfXOlRdBpMZIBcd-M3rC_4YqGihaSfHqCkDIwVFeUQQD_pE5wsH7-JBx41dycSh-OFRGTkhgZpkcJ96595T73aWUGCSQAIUjD-LNVAqk/s1600/IMG_3475.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR5SJwgGVNfeGYG5sFaVkSCBWap3Q_6V3hnX6LfXOlRdBpMZIBcd-M3rC_4YqGihaSfHqCkDIwVFeUQQD_pE5wsH7-JBx41dycSh-OFRGTkhgZpkcJ96595T73aWUGCSQAIUjD-LNVAqk/s1600/IMG_3475.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Every month you get a recipe card. This month it's Banana Ginger Butterscotch Muffins from The Vegan Cookie. It uses the Coconom Ginger Coconut Sugar which came in the box. These look really tasty and give me an idea of how to use the sugar, which did confuse me at first. These don't need any 'weird' ingredients and have the measurements in grams and cups. Once you've had 6 months of subscriptions you get a ring binder to keep the recipes in.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv5A91QYiqBB_tMa3d59-ku02wMMRxngqkZyV35gceo0KeQ6gx_KIuHUuer2VGxNqNA69RfhhdBmFPQOVdrRL8leGSPbfjzAsl4YIv58wxAjseVo-Jn3t0e71oeJtBGkThZag5gFsnDQg/s1600/IMG_3474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv5A91QYiqBB_tMa3d59-ku02wMMRxngqkZyV35gceo0KeQ6gx_KIuHUuer2VGxNqNA69RfhhdBmFPQOVdrRL8leGSPbfjzAsl4YIv58wxAjseVo-Jn3t0e71oeJtBGkThZag5gFsnDQg/s1600/IMG_3474.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I promised Karl I wouldn't eat anything before he got home from work, so that's why I don't know what anything tastes like. Keep an eye on my <a href="https://twitter.com/EllieMae636" target="_blank">Twitter</a> to see what we think.<br />
<br />
Another great thing about The Vegan Kind boxes is each month 10p from every box sold is donated to charity. The total of everything in the box this month came to over £10 as well.<br />
<br />

I thought I'd hate every second and spend the whole month fighting temptation, but that didn't happen. Although I did break it on Wednesday, Karl and I took a bite of a fish finger and a chicken goujon respectively at the same time so neither of us was the first to break it.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image from www.vegansociety.com/</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I reckon I'll go back to it, not full time, at least not yet. But I'm definitely going to be having more vegan meals and sweet treats.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Here's what I learnt from being vegan:<br />
<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>You don't need mayo in every meal</li>
<li>Vegan mayo is not nice...</li>
<li>....neither is vegan cheese</li>
<li>I'm not brave enough to try tofu</li>
<li>Vegan cookies taste amazing</li>
<li>Really random things are vegan, see <a href="https://instagram.com/accidentallyveganuk/" target="_blank">Accidentally Vegan</a> on instagram.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.thugkitchen.com/" target="_blank">Thug Kitchen</a> is life. </li>
<li>I feel so much better not eating dairy</li>
</ol>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think everybody should try being vegan, you might be surprised at how easy it is. </div>

Happy April Fool's Day everyone, hope you didn't fall for too many.<br />
<br />
Here's a quick summary of all the things I want to get my hands on this month.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.feelunique.com/p/First-Aid-Beauty-Facial-Radiance-Pads-60" target="_blank">First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads</a> - £22.00<br />

<br />
My skin has been looking a bit dull and flaky recently, so I could do with some radiance in my life!<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Sticking with the theme of getting bright skin, I want to try these. I know face wipes are the skincare devil but I'm going on holiday at the end of the month and can't lug my whole routine with me.<br />
<br />

<br />
My favourite Australian clothing brand is releasing two new collections on April 7th, <a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/blackmilkpins/disney-20/" target="_blank">Disney 2.0</a> and <a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/blackmilkpins/holidaze/" target="_blank">Holidaze</a>. I have two of these jumpers now. One grey one and this purple one. I use the grey one as a pyjama top and Karl got me the purple one so I had one I could wear out of the house as well.<br />

I have the grey one in a Small so it works well as a pyjama top because it's a little oversized. This one is an Extra Small so you can get an idea of sizing.<br />

I've previously ruled out B. and this time I went for another Superdrug-sold brand, GOSH.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjp-A27nwL8Ftcy_kkBA_5KHp66UUhWEi7aHSeMSGKnaJy1shyphenhyphencJtxi7iSN-GY3JNlY3NzCQkYUvGsiBBgX5d-oWsAMcvkkfVbRIrZUU3MBHnHHaaaxEo8HvxducDiRffen1NylcbQ-Vs/s1600/IMG_3450.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjp-A27nwL8Ftcy_kkBA_5KHp66UUhWEi7aHSeMSGKnaJy1shyphenhyphencJtxi7iSN-GY3JNlY3NzCQkYUvGsiBBgX5d-oWsAMcvkkfVbRIrZUU3MBHnHHaaaxEo8HvxducDiRffen1NylcbQ-Vs/s1600/IMG_3450.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
I went for the X-Ceptional Wear Make Up foundation in Porcelain after reading lots of reviews. This is a lightweight, but full coverage foundation. It's quite liquidy, so don't tip your hand upside down! At first use I hated this, I found it sticky and difficult to apply. But that's because I was using my fingers. I've discovered you have to use a sponge with this, rubbing or buffing it in doesn't work. Once applied this has great coverage and lasts the longest out of any foundation I've tried. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizkHy7BcMJuwFGGP3nR-wzklhfFzaRtVF6eVDSkmhdZYl6lwLAvQurSjGgRn7RxV0l429Wmw1yoq_uAcbSt7P3v3fDZO8DwoiJRhNy-_mRTYpbZkvL7AtElUo54oeTAtJJJDPcXvJPppU/s1600/IMG_3451.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizkHy7BcMJuwFGGP3nR-wzklhfFzaRtVF6eVDSkmhdZYl6lwLAvQurSjGgRn7RxV0l429Wmw1yoq_uAcbSt7P3v3fDZO8DwoiJRhNy-_mRTYpbZkvL7AtElUo54oeTAtJJJDPcXvJPppU/s1600/IMG_3451.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
While I was staring at the GOSH display I chose the BB Powder (I don't know what makes it BB, but whatever). I think you can use this as a foundation, but on its own it's very light coverage. You'd have to have flawless skin in the first place I think. But over the foundation this is great and takes away the slight stickyness of it. They're both really good colour matches as well. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is my first foray in the GOSH make up and I'm really impressed. I'd definitely try more. </div>

Karl and I get them once a fortnight or so and just relax about cooking for a night. Since the start of vegan month though we haven't had a single one. I really wanted a curry but didn't want to spend the time making it from scratch so we popped off to Waitrose to see what we could find.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9L_Oa8AWQBtqsJHlEd3pqk5sB33rk72KzjiQu7HqBwvtOgnr84kogOdigMdTa8QAbfkylnFScr7a4sV_hRfrDkXNsrJlUJJk2YvKolT1xrtX3YOTZosTzhmiF-Yti13U2jZHFfbi5B_A/s1600/Vegan+Curry+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9L_Oa8AWQBtqsJHlEd3pqk5sB33rk72KzjiQu7HqBwvtOgnr84kogOdigMdTa8QAbfkylnFScr7a4sV_hRfrDkXNsrJlUJJk2YvKolT1xrtX3YOTZosTzhmiF-Yti13U2jZHFfbi5B_A/s1600/Vegan+Curry+(2).JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We went for the Patak's Masala Chicken curry sauce and mini poppadoms to add to some Waitrose bhajis and samosas.<br />

<br />
I decided to base the curry around potatoes so I chopped them up into bite-sized pieces and boiled them, then fried them. I wanted them to be separate and crispy but I think I over cooked them so they went a bit mushy when being fried. Then I tipped the sauce over the top and added peas. The bhajis and samosas went in the oven and the poppadoms into a bowl. All served with rice and mango chutney.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It was really tasty and I'd definitely make it again. Plus it's all vegan!<br />

I always pretended not to like them but secretly I was hoping I'd get swept off my feet by the heir to the place and get to live in a stately home forever. 99% of the time I'd discover the house hadn't been lived in for 60 years or the heir was 35 with no children. I told Karl this the other day and he looked at me like I'd completely lost it, so maybe that was just me and my over-active imagination.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Now I'm older I realise that living in a mansion would be expensive and not very practical but I still enjoy looking at them. I feel as if the National Trust is thought of as being made up of retirees and history loving parents. So here's why you should join the National Trust when you're under the age of 25.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><ol>
<li>It's only £30.00 a year to <a href="http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/membership/" target="_blank">join</a> if you're under 25. Sometimes there might be some deals on, I know there was when I signed up so it's worth keeping an eye on. </li>
<li>You can visit over 500 places for free and park for free at most of them too.</li>
<li>You get a free pair of binoculars. </li>
<li>It's a great way to find out the history of your local area...</li>
<li>....and any places you go on holiday too.</li>
<li>There's lots of great places to walk your dog.</li>
<li>But there's also lots of dog-free gardens for those of us scared of dogs.</li>
<li>Walking is good for you. It said so in the <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/mar/25/a-good-walk-the-perfect-way-to-clear-your-head" target="_blank">Guardian</a>.</li>
<li>You can imagine yourself living in the houses for a few hours, with none of the financial responsibility.</li>
<li>You've played your part in helping these places be restored and kept for future generations.</li>
<li>And, you might learn something you never knew before. </li>
</ol>

I hated P.E at school. I was bad at all sports and vividly remember crying in one of my primary school classes because I couldn't do a forward roll and everyone laughed at me.<br />
<br />
However, now I'm older and wiser I know that forward rolls aren't the be all and end all of being athletic. I have previously considered running but never had the motivation to get out there. Being an anxious person scared of going outside and being sick doesn't help matters either. In January I told myself I would complete the Yoga with Adriene <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXU591OYOHA" target="_blank">30 Days of Yoga</a> and I did it without missing a single day. I fell in love with yoga and now try do to it at least once a week.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfML1ZrhyphenhyphenIToc1HeVkF2jJoK11FMnOJmgUbTRQO1FmvVGwO2TjkG8DtaS7LRJs9W35iily4s5rL7zzpBrfqsTrkP6gTtcl3KFYDJ_rUBXydqLVwXtGjmPVMvTL9p5wqphyphenhyphenVpwvrzXoeDk/s1600/sblogo.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfML1ZrhyphenhyphenIToc1HeVkF2jJoK11FMnOJmgUbTRQO1FmvVGwO2TjkG8DtaS7LRJs9W35iily4s5rL7zzpBrfqsTrkP6gTtcl3KFYDJ_rUBXydqLVwXtGjmPVMvTL9p5wqphyphenhyphenVpwvrzXoeDk/s1600/sblogo.gif" /></a></div>
<br />
I have also fallen in love with workout gear, so this week's wishlist is what I want from <a href="http://www.sweatybetty.com/" target="_blank">Sweaty Betty</a>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><a href="http://www.sweatybetty.com/clothes/bottoms/leggings/black-ashtanga-yoga-leggings/" target="_blank">Ashtanga Yoga Leggings</a> - £55<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju_-lVm2VIlgX0rYftOSyo70MKqVptaWvX6YJUGs1_hGyccB0wNMsIR5BGz6Od70bd9BKnB8EmxdBJtz5XqEQdCuPUxi3B9B2txYckncEihG4SGR8nfm_TXJcdVJ0DPCEViUCyX7NDi6s/s1600/SB+Leggings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju_-lVm2VIlgX0rYftOSyo70MKqVptaWvX6YJUGs1_hGyccB0wNMsIR5BGz6Od70bd9BKnB8EmxdBJtz5XqEQdCuPUxi3B9B2txYckncEihG4SGR8nfm_TXJcdVJ0DPCEViUCyX7NDi6s/s1600/SB+Leggings.jpg" height="320" width="256" /></a></div>
The only plain black workout leggings I have are for running so they have an awkward zip pocket that digs in when you're lying on your back. I have a teal pair from Forever 21 but they are see-through central so I'd be scared to wear them to a class. These are black, smooth and opaque. But apparently not be worn for extra sweaty workouts so light yoga work only.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.sweatybetty.com/clothes/tops/jackets/black-supinity-retreat-jumpsuit/" target="_blank">Supinity Retreat Jumpsuit</a> - £110<br />

I won't lie, I want this because you'd be able to get ready to workout by only putting this on over your sports bra and pants. No excuses then. Also, it would so comfy as lounge wear, I don't think I'd take it off when I'd finished yoga.<br />

Love slogan tees and this would be so light and airy over a vest. I'd also wear it with high waisted jeans. I really want to be able to do ballet so I could pretend I could with this top.<br />

I don't think I've been swimming since I was 15 but I love everything about this swimsuit. The zip at the back, the double strap, the colours = major heart eyes. Maybe I should take up swimming to justify buying it....?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09805309341657923925noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901214171042290659.post-4549622031094274252015-03-24T10:00:00.000+00:002015-03-25T18:28:48.058+00:00The Dorothy Perkins JeansFor someone who lives in jeans, it seemed strange to me that I only had two pairs that I would actually wear on a regular basis. So I went on the hunt for a third pair.<br />
<br />
I love Topshop Joni jeans, that what my other two pairs are and I would definitely get a third pair of them, but currently I don't have the budget for £36 on jeans.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I opted for Dorothy Perkins and spent slightly too long looking at all the different styles online. After a lot of deliberation I went for the <a href="http://www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/clothing-203535/jeans-203564/petite-jeans-3203679/petite-harper-roll-up-jeans-2978178?bi=1&ps=20" target="_blank">Petite Harper Jeans</a>.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
I'll start with the negatives. There is not enough choice on the Dorothy Perkins Petite jean section. I know that all their jeans come in three different leg lengths. For the Harper style petite and short are the same length but for the Eden style the short length is 3cms longer than petite. It's confusing to say the least.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Uncuffed and cuffed</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Complaint number two, the Harper style is advertised as 'roll up' and shown online cuffed at the ankle. I thought that these cuffs would be a permanent feature. They're not, at least not on any of the Harpers I saw. They all were hemmed like normal jeans and looked like all the other jeans around them. You could buy the Bailey jeans for £4 cheaper and cuff the bottom to get the same look. I was shocked when I realised this. The only reason I didn't so this was because there wasn't any Bailey's in my size and there was an offer on denim at the time so they were a bit cheaper.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji4DW5XgDTY-fsl-97O76OGP9Am1NRbtmFKFo7TVNvl2T4oMab_zg6_HMvz0DXDg3zs0GV6UD9Es1KrySJ5uNFZeWmCY-3yNQG6bnXAuPH3H6BkjtNRGvA-3iJ5Nr5ZqWdGrGKMoxrr8k/s1600/DP+Jeans+(9).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji4DW5XgDTY-fsl-97O76OGP9Am1NRbtmFKFo7TVNvl2T4oMab_zg6_HMvz0DXDg3zs0GV6UD9Es1KrySJ5uNFZeWmCY-3yNQG6bnXAuPH3H6BkjtNRGvA-3iJ5Nr5ZqWdGrGKMoxrr8k/s1600/DP+Jeans+(9).JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Size wise, I sized down and got a 6 and I'm glad I did. They were tight to get into the first time but now they've stretched out they fit fine. I'm hoping when they're washed they'll shrink back a bit. They're really comfy and have worn well so far. I wouldn't normally wear them with the top tucked in, but it was the best way to show them off. They're low rise, but not so low you'll be showing your pants to the world.<br />
<br />
I don't think I'd get another pair unless discounted because of the roll ups not being a permanent fixture. But I would recommend you check them out next time there's a denim sale at Dorothy Perkins.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09805309341657923925noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901214171042290659.post-16843385236808818282015-03-23T10:43:00.000+00:002015-03-23T10:43:38.316+00:00Cruelty Free Beauty Struggles and Triumphs I announced at the beginning of the year that I intended to only buy make-up that hadn't been tested on animals. I never thought it would be easy, but its has turned out to be a lot harder than I ever thought it would be. Searching the internet for information isn't always the easiest. Sometimes the blogs are a few years old so you can never be sure the information is correct and the company is still against animal testing. Or they could have been bought out by somebody else.<br />
<br />
All the internet searching means it's difficult to just pop into Boots and pick something up. I've been trying to find a new holy grail concealer, I think I now have some options to go and try.<br />
<br />
However, amongst all the struggles their has been some triumphs. Too Faced, Charlotte Tilbury, Ben Nye and Kryolan are all on the good list (I hope!). As are much of the brands in Superdrug, I have a big old list of skincare to try.<br />
<br />
I don't regret going cruelty free. It's tough but more than worth it!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09805309341657923925noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901214171042290659.post-73083287067338233692015-03-21T10:00:00.000+00:002015-03-21T18:52:53.930+00:00Week In: Song LyricsAnother new series as part of the blog's new look. I've never really known what to do with weekends, I'm not very good at Instagram so a week in Instagram posts wouldn't really work. So I've decided to do a "Week In:..." so it could be a week in inspirational Pinterest quotes, yoga poses, jokes, etc.<br />
<br />
This week it's the song that inspired me to make the change to the blog. I've put the lyrics over my view of Friday's eclipse. A plan that the weather scuppered.<br />

Hopefully this will encourage me to have more exciting things for lunch. Being woefully unprepared this week I'm afraid I don't have very good pictures.<br />
<br />
We didn't do Vegan-ary but we're doing Vegan-arch (so to speak). This means we've been experimenting a bit more with our meals. I really missed having sweet things so did a bit of digging and found <a href="http://www.thisrawsomeveganlife.com/2011/11/sometimes-ya-just-need-fresh-baked.html#.VQv_B1z7C0t" target="_blank">this recipe</a> from This Rawsome Vegan Life.<br />

<br />
<br />
They were pretty easy to make and taste like normal chocolate cookies. Not many things will be sticking around once the month is up but I'd definitely make this again. I would say you need to spread the blobs of mixture out a lot or they'll stick together like this.<br />
<br />
What other vegan desserts should I try?<br />

Today it's about how I'm battling my mental health issues. You can get my life story <a href="http://elliemae636.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/timetotalk.html" target="_blank">here</a> and what exactly I'm dealing with in life.<br />
<br />
I'm currently have counselling with a therapist Anxiety UK put me in touch with and she's great. Treats me like a grown up and lets me babble on about what I've done recently and helps me to be proud of my achievements, no matter how small.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjepZJNJJGxnSpS6BNzDQsdfC0RIXiTJN9vTKEgVawmd7WmmF7rHP0-VcMlKYjxocsLtXgkmtvSTBd2H41hK3vnARp3NWdPv1aFX1Oh83WLQMY1tfMYbdaqalAU8S8CNCj6TgpZs_8daNc/s1600/IMG_3403.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjepZJNJJGxnSpS6BNzDQsdfC0RIXiTJN9vTKEgVawmd7WmmF7rHP0-VcMlKYjxocsLtXgkmtvSTBd2H41hK3vnARp3NWdPv1aFX1Oh83WLQMY1tfMYbdaqalAU8S8CNCj6TgpZs_8daNc/s1600/IMG_3403.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
A bulk of the work I have to do to get better centres around me, myself and I. I can have as much counselling as my parents will fund for me, read all the books, think all the right things but if I don't put anything into practice it will have been a waste.<br />
<br />
I used to find even going out with other people stressful, I'd cry and cry until the situation either went away or I could avoid it no longer. Now I'm getting so much better at going out with either Karl or my parents. If I feel a bit sick I might sit in the car for five minutes, then I'll go join them when I feel better. I haven't cried because I haven't wanted to go somewhere with other person for a long time.<br />
<br />
Going out alone is still a problem though, and not something I do enough. My therapist is based in Oxford so that gets me out alone once a fortnight but between times I just sit in the flat all day and wait for Karl to come home so we can go out. It's not healthy for a whole variety of reasons.<br />
<br />
So I joined the National Trust, the town centre is still a bit much for me, but National Trust properties are quiet at off peak times. My only issue is I'm very scared of dogs, so I'm waiting until the dog-free gardens are open before taking the plunge. There's always an excuse. Expect to see my 'reviews' of the properties I visit popping up now and again.<br />
<br />
By taking myself out for walks, I hope to gain more and more confidence and one day I'll be able to go into London, on the train and go to Oxford Street in the two days before Christmas, all alone. And I'll probably cry with happiness.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09805309341657923925noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901214171042290659.post-57966260649191995002015-03-18T10:00:00.000+00:002015-03-18T10:00:10.615+00:00Wednesday Wishlist: Charlotte Tilbury As past of my <a href="http://elliemae636.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/times-are-changing.html" target="_blank">new look</a> I've got a new schedule, including the ever-so-ordinal Wednesday Wishlist. Sometimes this might be a really long wishlist, other times it might only have one thing on it.<br />
<br />
This weeks it's all about Charlotte Tilbury. A firm favourite of my cousins and legions of beauty bloggers it's been a brand that's been on my radar for a while. I recently found out that they're all cruelty free too, so not only can I lust after them, I can buy them too!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a name='more'></a><a href="http://www.charlottetilbury.com/uk/light-wonder-1-fair.html" target="_blank">Light Wonder Foundation - Fair 1</a> - £32<br />

<br />
I need a new foundation and I think this will be the one I'll plump for. I don't think I've seen one bad review of it. The only complaints are that it oxidises a little on the skin so I'd get a shade down than I would normally. This combined with a kick-ass concealer could be the answer to flawless skin.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.charlottetilbury.com/uk/filmstar-bronze-and-glow.html" target="_blank">Filmstar Bronze & Glow</a> - £49<br />

The price tag makes my eyes water but the effects people get with this convince me that it's probably worth the investment one day. I'm always trying to up my contour game, and this could be the palette that does that.<br />

I know these are good because family members have told me so. I like bright pink lipsticks and therefore you need a suitable blusher to compliment them. Plus, so easy to use.<br />

These were everywhere when they came out, so much so I think people got a bit sick of reading about them. But it wouldn't be a make-up wishlist without a lipstick and this matte red looks amazing. <a href="http://www.charlottetilbury.com/uk/matte-revolution-amazing-grace.html" target="_blank">Amazing Grace</a> comes a very close second.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09805309341657923925noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901214171042290659.post-38252228256835868002015-03-17T13:35:00.000+00:002015-03-17T14:08:57.722+00:00Times are changingThe eagle-eyed among you may have noticed some changes going happening on my little blog. I've been having a complete make-over! So may I present to you all.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3kxVOBeeDMCs1l2WqhbKsjKwQl0nU4VL8ZR-fzPgI9Tq8-kIuFkofcM2gjRLe5kA5M6Z5dB1V96M5UACzmcPJ78KW8Vxl2u_T64L-JyKLG7PJ6Wttq4mXsOOd45-LSYa6Kafb4tHmpWQ/s1600/Social+Media+Banner+(text).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3kxVOBeeDMCs1l2WqhbKsjKwQl0nU4VL8ZR-fzPgI9Tq8-kIuFkofcM2gjRLe5kA5M6Z5dB1V96M5UACzmcPJ78KW8Vxl2u_T64L-JyKLG7PJ6Wttq4mXsOOd45-LSYa6Kafb4tHmpWQ/s1600/Social+Media+Banner+(text).jpg" height="126" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Yes, I've changed the name and everything!!<br />
<br />
I was feeling uninspired by my previous blog incarnation, I didn't like the colours as much any more, I had run clean out of ideas and felt I couldn't do being a beauty blogger justice anymore. I'm not getting rid of beauty, but giving myself more room to write about other things without feeling like I am betraying my blog name. Now alongside beauty I'm going to be talking about lifestyle, fashion, food, fitness, random things. I'm also going to be charting my recovery from anxiety and its related issues. Maybe I'll even start vlogging.<br />
<br />
I'm sad to be saying goodbye to Ellie Mae's Beauty Blog, but it was time to move on. All my old posts will remain and I'm still Ellie Mae on social media. So it's not really gone. (Genuinely a little emotional writing this).<br />
<br />
The name was born out of a conversation with Mum. I didn't know what to do and she asked me what I looked forward to in life and made me happy and I said "five past five" because that's when my boyfriend gets home from work. So here it is - five past five: the things that make me tick.<br />
<br />

Concealers I <a href="http://elliemae636.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/superdrug-and-lush-haul.html" target="_blank">hauled </a>these concealers just over a month ago and now I shall be reviewing them for you. I actually got them mid-January so I've given them a good run through.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYyu2HjQaUJ38W7tSw4lyBOhFb2wmzlPJRxCvmb3ppb9EbsZc-RNMnHvjJShEW4JOvFeJxnJQJl3xox8lCTnmVQi1sJmSyZtDDbsuJf5zduF6RDT9Ugl2OMROHznnZfz8vwa74rNoeznc/s1600/B.+Concealers++(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYyu2HjQaUJ38W7tSw4lyBOhFb2wmzlPJRxCvmb3ppb9EbsZc-RNMnHvjJShEW4JOvFeJxnJQJl3xox8lCTnmVQi1sJmSyZtDDbsuJf5zduF6RDT9Ugl2OMROHznnZfz8vwa74rNoeznc/s1600/B.+Concealers++(2).JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The concealers in question are the <a href="http://www.superdrug.com/B-/B-Flawless-Long-lasting-Concealer-Light-90/p/493404#.VP2eZPmsWSp" target="_blank">B. Flawless Long Lasting Concealer</a> and the <a href="http://www.superdrug.com/B-/B-Radiant-BB-Under-Eye-Concealer-Light-Medium-60/p/494973#.VP2eZvmsWSp" target="_blank">B. Radiant BB Under Eye Concealer</a>. I said in the haul that I wasn't sure and after all this time I'm still left unconvinced. B. is such a good idea, cruelty free makeup at a low price point and easily accessible, but I just haven't tried any base products from them and enjoyed them.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
First of all, the under eye concealer. All the writing rubbed off the packaging within a week which was annoying. This was far too dark for me, I didn't see a light one in store, but the website tell me there is. So Light/Medium did nothing for brightening purposes, and it didn't really do much coverage wise either. It's now in my empties pile, it seemed to run out very quickly but maybe a month and a half is all I can expect from it. I wouldn't repurchase this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWxV8HgPHmHDLKU8vC7LogkAQCJNHY1MnokC_Jbl2SzIsVYnzjP3VSZX990dx0JhJG8CQvqoUUAFbGdzNgAFVBbe7hMysDvCfUf-XcqkubZfvfgYFgI-KMYWi80fVd2m9RDMVI0BncADI/s1600/B.+Concealers++(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWxV8HgPHmHDLKU8vC7LogkAQCJNHY1MnokC_Jbl2SzIsVYnzjP3VSZX990dx0JhJG8CQvqoUUAFbGdzNgAFVBbe7hMysDvCfUf-XcqkubZfvfgYFgI-KMYWi80fVd2m9RDMVI0BncADI/s1600/B.+Concealers++(3).JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Another disappointment in the stick concealer, while I didn't notice the glitter mentioned in the website reviews I found it to be dry, cakey and difficult to blend with little to no coverage. The colour match was better though and it hasn't run out yet. Probably because I haven't been using it as much.<br />
<br />
The hunt for a cruelty free concealer continues. I'm also about to be looking for a foundation, any suggestions always welcome.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09805309341657923925noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901214171042290659.post-8384887505673422362015-03-03T14:53:00.000+00:002015-03-03T14:53:46.402+00:00Pink Hair, Don't CareI dyed my hair pink, on a whim, to cheer myself up from a depressive funk a couple of weeks ago. It worked so I decided to do it again but this time I'd photograph proceedings. I used a mixture of Bleach London's Rose and Awkward Peach. I put Awkward Peach on my under layers and Rose on top. I put it on dry hair and left it for two hours before washing it out in lukewarm water. Fairly simple steps really.<br />

It is a bit stronger than I would have liked, but that means it won't wash out as fast. I've washed it once so far and it's looking good. I know some people find the Bleach London colours wash out really quickly but I haven't found this. I wash my hair in cold water and that really helps.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsAXl3w8dLAujnfzfH-rFeh32P57PZTDmUdi9VL8r4sTsPZTQQIlQkseYXNUs6uNLsn1KTVUR8g71RdK9DCw0EST1dYE_flr-gxV6fEgr4bXz0qXr3eNenXHliYbed1_ecwpF04XJCISE/s1600/Brush+Cleaning+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsAXl3w8dLAujnfzfH-rFeh32P57PZTDmUdi9VL8r4sTsPZTQQIlQkseYXNUs6uNLsn1KTVUR8g71RdK9DCw0EST1dYE_flr-gxV6fEgr4bXz0qXr3eNenXHliYbed1_ecwpF04XJCISE/s1600/Brush+Cleaning+(2).JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I'd been using baby shampoo but that ran out and I didn't feel my normal shampoo was good enough. I felt a bit odd putting a brush washed in that near my eyes. To solve this I got some <a href="http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/dr-bronner-unscented-babymild-pure-castile-soap-60004609?c=dr%20bronner" target="_blank">Dr Bronner's Magic Soap</a> from Holland and Barrett. I went for the unscented one as I didn't fancy brushes smelling like peppermint. This has 18 uses and can even be used as toothpaste!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTxcMprtesVAF8T5RHT_uK8Tp8cJ7Ay3IA6TOlHERzh9HrngRWnFzphXmmtHoiZ4Ag67QKbgUm-N9svqdZd3lVYD19OpApmnaK8Ok8ZRZQB6yy_O7H0lNLOmDK3pp5FxHV-LuIxl_kDb8/s1600/Brush+Cleaning+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTxcMprtesVAF8T5RHT_uK8Tp8cJ7Ay3IA6TOlHERzh9HrngRWnFzphXmmtHoiZ4Ag67QKbgUm-N9svqdZd3lVYD19OpApmnaK8Ok8ZRZQB6yy_O7H0lNLOmDK3pp5FxHV-LuIxl_kDb8/s1600/Brush+Cleaning+(3).JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
Because we don't have mixer taps in the bathroom it was easier to fill a bowl with soapy water and use that to wet and wash my brushes before running them under cold water to remove the soap. This worked really well, much better than burning or freezing my hand in the bathroom. I always dry my brushes flat and hanging off the edge of a surface so they keep their shape and water doesn't run into the handles.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkS4q5RzWVdKjmN_nLxfLJXyTWRM9_RVocmCTshcmVUtnvhHE9CmQpqwEmCQlYkkGNV-ip-PNHbB_FuBcy0gvZ5e1g71-Qk3li5PhkjMylUOvGkH1402XOYPU4nCjynwwIXUUmmCC6ZAQ/s1600/Brush+Cleaning+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkS4q5RzWVdKjmN_nLxfLJXyTWRM9_RVocmCTshcmVUtnvhHE9CmQpqwEmCQlYkkGNV-ip-PNHbB_FuBcy0gvZ5e1g71-Qk3li5PhkjMylUOvGkH1402XOYPU4nCjynwwIXUUmmCC6ZAQ/s1600/Brush+Cleaning+(4).JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now I will have nice clean brushes again!<br />
<br />

Today marks Time to Change's <a href="http://www.time-to-change.org.uk/timetotalkday" target="_blank">#TimeToTalk</a> Day. They want people to spend just five minutes talking about mental health to end the stigma faced by those who suffer with mental health issues.<br />

<br />
I uploaded a <a href="http://youtu.be/Lz5pofuBFtU" target="_blank">video</a> talking about this, and in it I talked briefly about my own struggles with anxiety and depression and I wanted to use this blog post to open up a bit more about it. As a <b>trigger warning</b> this blog will talk about anxiety, depression, agoraphobia, eating disorders and suicidal thoughts.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Lz5pofuBFtU/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Lz5pofuBFtU?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
I'd always been an anxious child but when I was 15 something changed and I was unable to go to school everyday. I felt sick whenever I thought about doing something out of my comfort zone. A trip to the doctors led to my first experience of any stigma. I was told that the reason I felt sick and cried all the time was because I had bad skin, and that was why I didn't want to go to school. Exactly what every 15-year-old wants to hear, right? She prescribed the pill, which I refused to take because the side effects seemed to be exactly what I dealing with already. Incidentally, I went on the pill later in life and it made everything so much worse.<br />
<br />
Eventually I found a better doctor and he sent me for counselling. I liked my counsellor but she seemed to think all my problems could be solved if I started to eat breakfast. At this point I wasn't eating at all at school and only eating once I got home. This pattern of starvation and then mild binging when I got home meant I dropped a lot of weight. I still have problems with food and am very careful about what I eat in case it makes me sick or triggers any IBS symptoms. Those two things have been the things that have been on my mind almost everyday for 6 years. I constantly feel nauseous as a 'side effect' of my anxiety and worry so much about being sick around people I panic, and then feel sicker, and then panic more. I'm not sure what triggered it but I was sick a few times of the summer after my 15th birthday and I think that's what led to all of this.<br />

Everything calmed down a bit at college and most of university, and I even went to Canada on a study abroad, something 15-year-old me couldn't have imagined. I still felt anxious and sick every day but I could deal with it better. When I was in my third year of university it all came back. I only went to one lecture in my last term of university and I stopped travelling on public transport alone. This meant that my boyfriend had to travel down from Edinburgh and I couldn't return the favour. I will always be grateful for him not giving up on me, then or now. I had counselling through the university's wellbeing service (she told me I'd have it for life if I didn't immediately drop all my safety behaviours) and an NHS service (who were great but I only got 6 sessions which wasn't enough). I finally found a doctor who understood and I tried anti-depressents but they weren't for me, although they did get me through my graduation.<br />

Over the last few months of 2014 I got worse and the fear of going outside and being scared of being sick became a bigger deal than being outside. It was at this point I was diagnosed with agoraphobia as well. I couldn't keep up a job offer in my dream career and felt increasingly useless. Depression has been another huge part of my anxiety and while I don't believe I could ever go through with ending my life I've battled with suicidal thoughts throughout the last 6 years. I regularly have blue days where staying in bed as seemed like the best option.<br />

However, I now believe that I am on the road to recovery. Through <a href="https://www.anxietyuk.org.uk/" target="_blank">Anxiety UK</a> I've found a counsellor who believes in me and treats me like an intelligent grown up. I have great support from my boyfriend, family and friends. I have up days, and down days. The last two weeks have been tough, but I'm putting that behind me and continuing up.<br />

I'm lucky in the sense that the stigma I have come across has been a minority of people and most people I've spoken to have been understanding and even shared their own stories. It helped me to feel less alone.<br />

No one should be made to feel alone or small, that is why the Time To Change campaign is important.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09805309341657923925noreply@blogger.com2
