Review: Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

I’m not really a hair person, I don’t do a whole lot to it and I’ve never used any masks or treatments, other than oil, on it. But when I saw that October’s Issue of In Style magazine came with a sample of the much hyped Elasticizer from Philip Kingsley I figured it would be worth a shot. The only thing I know about Philip Kingsley products is they’re expensive but people seem to love them.

To use the Elasticizer you put it in wet hair, leave it for 10-20 minutes then wash out. It was created for Audrey Hepburn to use when she wanted to repair her hair, well if it’s good enough for Audrey… It’s supposed to deliver elasticity, shine and a bounce to the hair, as well as UV protection.  Fancy.

I’ll admit, it’s frustrating wetting your hair, wandering about for 20 minutes, then washing it out. I’ve read that some people leave it in overnight and I might try that one day. But if you combine it with a face mask then you can make a proper pamper session out of it. You don’t need that much of it I don’t think, my sample is 40ml and I think that will last a while. And it washes out really easily, there’s no residue left behind and my hair doesn’t feel sticky or weighed down after. Most importantly, it does work. It’s not been a game changer but it has made my hair feel soft and it’s been more manageable. I’m not sure if my hair has got more of a shine as I’ve been shoving it up in a bun most days but there’s definitely been a change. I’ve bought into the hype.

However, would I buy a bigger size? Maybe if I had a lottery win. It’s a good product and I’d like to try more from the brand but I’m not sure I can justify the price on a student budget. I’m sure there are cheaper masks that do the same or similar, that being said I will cherish my sample and be sad when it runs out.

What are your hair mask recommendations?

Philip Kingsley Hair Elasticizer can be bought for from £12.75 from Feel Unique.

  2. Great review :). I haven't tried it but my housemate swears by it but I really don't think I can justify the price either if it's not life changing haha.
